BEIJING, Nov. 16 -- "Mrs. Smith" has been offered the coveted role of the new Bond girl.
Angelina Jolie is said to have loved the script for "Casino Royale," but hasn't signed the deal yet.
Apparently, the Hollywood actress wants her role toughened up.
In her opinion, a Bond girl is first of all an action girl.
"Angelina would rather play a baddie than eye candy," The Sun, a British tabloid, quoted an insider as saying. The producers are said to consider Jolie the perfect choice for the role of Vesper Lynd, a Russian double agent who beds Agent 007.
Jolie, who has just finished filming "The Mirror," which hits theaters in July 2006, is currently working under the direction of Robert De Niro on "The Good Sheperd" with Matt Damon.
The actress, who recently received an award for her work as a U.N. goodwill ambassador, is taking her time deciding whether to accept the Bond girl role. It would mark another collaboration with her "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" co-star, Daniel Craig, who plays Agent 007.
Meanwhile, Jolie received three nominations for the 32ndAnnual People's Choice Awards, announced in Hollywood on Thursday.
The actress was named for Favorite Female Movie Star, Favorite Female Action Star and Favorite On-Screen Match-Up with Brad Pitt, for "Mr. And Mrs. Smith," according to E!Online.
The nominees will be voted on by the American public, with awards presented on Jan. 10.
