Citat:It is of three philosophers – one young, one mid-aged, and one old – all of different classes and nationalities. Indeed, these are not the three magi (following the northern star to find Jesus), but they are representatives from three different time periods. The young man represents the Renaissance, the mid-aged man represents Arabia, and the elderly man represents the Middle Ages. They are sitting in the woods, working. There is a town in the background.

Malo detaljnije o slici:

Vezano za motiv, i nedoumice:
Citat:Ossian is the narrator, and supposed author, of a cycle of poems which the Scottish poet James Macpherson claimed to have translated from ancient sources in the Scots Gaelic. He is based on Oisín, son of Finn or Fionn mac Cumhaill, a character from Irish mythology. The furore over the authenticity of the poems continued into the 20th century.
. . .
A great detractor of the Ossian poems was Samuel Johnson, who had no knowledge of the Scottish Gaelic language or of the Gaelic tradition. Johnson believed that they were not only not authentic, but were, moreover, not even good poetry. Upon being asked, "But Doctor Johnson, do you really believe that any man today could write such poetry?" he famously replied, "Yes. Many men. Many women. And many children."

O liku iz irske mitologije:
Citat:His name literally means "little deer" or fawn, and the story is told that his mother, Sadbh, was turned into a deer by a druid, Fear Doirche (or Fer Doirich). When Fionn was hunting he caught her but did not kill her, and she returned to human form. Fionn gave up hunting and fighting to settle down with Sadbh, and she was soon pregnant, but Fer Doirich turned her back into a deer and she returned to the wild. Seven years later Fionn found her child, naked, on Benbulbin.
