Citat:Franz Stuck (Franc Štuk) je bio nemački simbolista i umetnik Art Nuvo-a. Slikar, skulptor, graver i arhitekta.
Štuk je rođen u Bavariji 1863. Od malena je pokazivao afinitete ka crtanju i karikaturi. Svoje umetničko obrazovanje je počeo u Minhenu 1878. gde je ostao celog života. Od 1881. do 1885. Štuk pohađa Minhensku Akademiju.
Osvojio je svetsku slavu i poštovanje. Iako u poznijem radu nije išao u korak sa novim trendovima u umetnosti, Štuk je nastavio da bude poštovan među mladim umetnicima i njegovim učenicima na Minhenskoj Akademiji. Njegovi čuveniji učenici su Pol Kle, Kandinski, Alber...
Umire 1928. godine. Po smrti, dobio je titulu „poslednji princ umetnosti velikih dana Minhena“.

Stuck’s depictions of women were consistently intriguing, as he departed a little (he was one of the founders of the Munich branch of the Secessionist Movement) from the usual Victorian approach to painting women as docile sex objects, and painted them grinning, gripping, growling, and grimacing as monstrously and humanly as anyone has ever painted men. Even Eve here (or perhaps Lillith) is owning her transgression. Her expression is worldly and blithe, almost jaded, even while her recent innocence clings to her. Versions differ in the exact quality of her features, as well as the rendering and hue, and between the pieces she seems to range from smiling to simply gazing, but her eyes always glow like the moon.

Hvala lidzaja!
Riječ je o portretisti koji je rođen u 18. a umro početkom 19. vijeka.
Takođe je slikao i ikone, ali je ostao zapamćen kao portretista.
