Za prirodu se smatralo da najbolje prikazuje njemački duh, dominira pejzaž, na koji se gleda kao protuotrov gradu i nezdravom načinu ivota. Domaće ivotinje su prikazane kao izvor snage, seljak kao marljvi, neumorni borac koji vlada tlom. (Slika Heinricha Berrana - prikazan je selljak koji nosi sijeno, ali nalazi se u istom položaju kao i mitski Atlas koji nosi Zemlju na svojim leđima)
