Equinox Desktop Enivronment
EDE je lightweight desktop okruženje zasnovano na modifikovanoj fltk biblioteci. Iako u svom stabilnom izdanju ne u potpunosti kompletno (nema menadžer datoteka, nema drag & drop, ne prati xorg.conf standarde desktop ikona, itd), vrlo zanimljivo i obećavajuće.

Equinox Desktop Environment (shortly EDE) is small desktop environment, built to be simple and fast. It is based on modified FLTK library (called extended FLTK or just eFLTK).
Comparing to other desktop environments, EDE is much faster and smaller in memory space (EDE's window manager use less memory than xterm).
The word equinox comes from the Latin for equal night. The equinoxes in March and September are the two occasions each year when the day and the night are of equal duration. For measuring the length of a day, sunrise is the moment when the sun is half-above the horizon and sunset is the moment when the sun is half-under the horizon. Using this definition, the length of the day (and the night) is precisely 12 hours at an equinox. more...

EDE 2.0 alpha

Šta je novo? Dosta toga. EDE 2 je kompletni rewrite EDEa. Planovi za EDE 2 podrazumevaju uglačavanje onih sitnih bugova i implementaciju funkcija koje nedostaju. Implementiran je i menadžer datoteka i poboljšana kompatibilnost sa freedesktop.org standardima. Ali ovo je razvojna alpha verzija i bilo bi realno očekivati da još uvek nije sve "leglo" na svoje mesto.

Izašla je verzija 2.0 EDE desktop okruženja. Više informacija možete naći u arhivi vesti na zvaničnoj strani. EDE možete probati i pomoću Remastersys live CD-a baziranog na Ubuntu 12.04 dostupnog ovde.

The most important news is how EDE is now fully FLTK 1.x powered, removing eFLTK as dependency. This will make EDE more approachable as FLTK is standard library on almost every distribution, backed with good community, active development and excellent documentation.
Also, EDE 2.0 is freedesktop.org friendly. With every new release (alpha, beta and now 2.0) support is improved, adding various new specifications. Now EDE will understand system menus, load desktop icons, read icon themes, cooperate with other toolkits and more.
