Daewoo wanted to use the name Evander, out of the Greek mythology.
Evander ("Good For Men")
Son of Hermes and Carmenta, he was the wisest of all the Arcadians. Before the Trojan War, he led a colony of Arcadians to Italy and founded the city Pallantium by the banks of the Tiber. Vergil says that Evander named the new city after his son Pallas, but Pausanias claims that Evander was from Pallantium and named his new city after the one in Arcadia. While Heracles was returning from Gades with the cattle of Geryon, Evander entertained the hero and was the first to raise an altar to him, which was later destroyed during the infamous fire of 64 AD. Having met Anchises before the Trojan War, he assisted Aeneas in his war against Turnus and the Rutulians and plays a major part in Book VIII of the Aeneid. Evander introduced the Greek alphabet and the worship of Greek deities into Italy. He was deified after his death and had an altar built to him on the Aventine hill.
When tested people linked it with Evander Holyfield, the boxer who's ear got bitten off by Mike Tyson. That's when the name was changed to Evanda.
