[FSRM] The Windows Server 2008 Administrator's Companion recommends using the File Server Resource Manager instead of the older "disk quota" feature.
[Another trick] - create a new volume and then use a symbolic link (see MKLINK) to map the directory to that volume. (MKLINK is Vista/2008 and later; for XP/2003 use NTFS junctions.)

Ko ima problema sa pohranom slika, potencijalna resenja:

2. The way I would do it if I went ghetto style is with Picture Resizer 6.0. It's freeware. Make a batch file to resize everything in the folder. Then move the entire contents of the folder to a second folder (so that when the resizer runs again, it won't run against the files a second time). Then delete the originals - or leave them and manually delete periodically once you've confirmed the process ran successfully, or post server backup. Set up a scheduled task and you're done.
3. There is also a bulk photo resize tool called Fotosizer that I use a lot. It's also freeware. This is a GUI app. You could use this to periodically compress whole folders like once per week. Obviously, never run this if the server is low on disk since you'll have both the original and resized photos on the server after the resizing. Although, there might be an "auto-delete original option" for fotosizer, I don't remember.
4. Last, and probably best option is Gallery Server Pro (also freeware/donation) or an equivalent commercial CMS product. It will resize uploaded pictures on the fly to whatever settings you configure. Also, your users will like you because now they can view their photos in a gallery style and web interface. You could also make it available to outside clients depending on your needs.
I haven't used GSP in three or four years so I can't remember if it has an email facility. It may not work for you if it doesn't. The guy who wrote it will do custom coding though, so anything is possible.
I would not go the route of a product which says "file rejected - too big". That is just going to piss off your users and make you look like a tightwad/control freak.
