FOOLS TOPS SITCOM TEST
The funniest British sitcom of all time is Only Fools and Horses, according to a scientist's formula.
Boffins spent months creating the mathematical formula for the perfect sitcom and Del Boy scored 696 points.
The show was followed by The Office, Father Ted, Fawlty Towers and Blackadder.
According to freelance scientist Dr Helen Pilcher and science writer Timandra Harkness, the basic ingredient of a successful sitcom is to have a deluded, self-aggrandising main character.
It is also important that characters are witty, have different social status - and that they fall over a lot.
The formula explains why shows such as Johnny Vaughan's Orrible came last with 6.5 points and Babes In The Wood, starring Denise Van Outen, scored eight points.
