1. Preface
This HOWTO should make it possibly for anybody to play with Steam on Linux with WineX CVS and the WineX binary.
Please follow every step just as it is described here.

2. Preparations
You need the latest WineX CVS version. A tutorial how to install WineX from CVS can be found in our How-To section too.
Read it first!
And you need the Steam e.g. the SteamInstall_CS.exe from http://www.steampowered.com/
3. WineX Configuration
After the installation of WineX you need to edit the config file (~/.cvscedega/config and ~/.transgaming/config) and add some lines at the end.

4) Install some fonts
Steam needs 2 Microsoft fonts: Tahoma and Marlett
The Tahoma Font should be installed with IE.
(You can download the windows fonts (including tahoma) and find a description how to install windows fonts under linux here:

If you don't want to install the fonts system wide copy it to the .wine/fake_windows/Windows/Fonts directory.
To see the max/minimize symbols in steam, download the Marlett.ttf and copy/unzip it to your ~/.wine/fake_windows/Windows/Fonts directory.

5. Installation
Simply change to the directory where you downloaded SteamInstall_CS.exe and type
$ cvscedega SteamInstall_CS.exe
The install should go fine, and after it's completed and wasted your time "updating" steam (it generated strangely small amounts of network traffic) Steam will launch. Create an account or log in, then add Counter Strike to your list of games.
6. Troubleshooting
Issue:
I have only 15-30 fps
Solution:
renice 15 -p `pgrep wineserver`
Issue:
Steam - Error: This game is currently unavailable.
Solution:
1. logout of Steam. If you click on the systray there should be a settings option. Under settings should be a logout option.
2. Kill Cedega and Steam. (If you are running it)
3. delete ClientRegistry.blob in the Steam folder.
4. Start steam up again. You should get a downloading processes(this is good). Then it will ask you to login again and everything should be a-ok.
Maybe making a script to delete the ClientRegistry.blob at startup would make things less annoying?

Ovo je ceo tekst, samo sam skinuo linkove koji upucuju na to odakle moze da se skine WineX jer su ilegalni.

Izvini, WineX se moze skinuti sasvim legalno sa sourceforge-a.

WineX je komercijalan i miora se platiti ako kupuijes kompajliranu verziju koja podrzava neke stvari kao windows installer out of the box.
Medjutim na raspolaganju je i source koji mozes skinuti ali mu je mana sto ga moras sam kompajlirati.

ima lepo uputstvo za to na nekom sajtu ... planirao sam to da uradim ... ali ne postizavam
