Best of both worlds - mislim da bi ovde najbolji prevod bio nas izraz "spojiti lepo i korisno"

m4rk0 :: Ko jos kaze "prikljuciti se trendu" Smile

Taj izraz sam ovde čuo. Priključiti, "prišlepati" i sl.

Citat: Best of both worlds - mislim da bi ovde najbolji prevod bio nas izraz "spojiti lepo i korisno"
Ovo se čini OK.

Silija je ovo napisala na trećoj strani, ali po meni neprecizno...

have a bee in bonnet
to keep talking about something again and again because you think it is important, especially something that other people do not think is important (often + about )

http://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/have+a+bee+in+bonnet

Ja bih ovo preveo kao "imati trip" da se priča o nečemu. Možda i "zanovetati", "trabunjati" ?.

She's got a real bee in her bonnet about people keeping their dogs under control.
// Ima trip da priča o ljudima ...

Martin has a bee in his bonnet about recycling.
// Martin ima trip da priča o recikliranju

She never stops talking about dieting - she's got a real bee in her bonnet about it.
... - ima trip da priča o tome

Fil ::m4rk0 ::Take with a grain of salt - uzeti zdravo za gotovo

Ovo bi značilo "uzeti nešto s rezervom" (skepticizmom).

--> to consider something to be not completely true or right

Primer:
I've read the article, which I take with a grain of salt.
Dakle, pročitao sam članak, ali ga uzimam "s rezervom".

Uzeti zdravo za gotovo bi bilo "take for granted".

Upravu si, moja greska Smile

Fil ::m4rk0 :: Ko jos kaze "prikljuciti se trendu" Smile

Taj izraz sam ovde čuo. Priključiti, "prišlepati" i sl.

Fil, nije sporna rec "prikljuciti se (necemu)", to naravno koristimo, ali fraza "prikljuciti se trendu" to niko ne koristi. Kod nas se koristi izraz "pratiti modu" ili "biti u trendu".

Ja ti opet kažem da sam taj izraz čuo u BiH.

~

Dalje:
a drop in the ocean (British, American & Australian)
Takođe dopuniti: a drop in the bucket (American) - samo (mala) kap u kofi (punoj vode).

a Nail in the Coffin - ovo bih preveo kao "korak više do poraza" (možda i "zakovati", "zakucati" poraz).
--> something that hastens the demise or failure of a person or thing.

Primer:
Every moment's delay is another nail in his coffin.
Svako odlaganje je još jedan korak ka porazu/korak više do poraza/propasti.
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/a+nail+in+the+coffin

a ok - apsolutno super
// ovo je pogrešno zapisano; treba "A-OK" or "A-okay" - http://www.thefreedictionary.com/a-ok
Ja bih rekao "izvrsno", "izvanredno"

a shining wit - plač I čipka.
Kada ovo čitalac pročita, zapitaće se: "Šta ovo znači, bokte"?
Da bi znao šta to znači, mora prvo da se upozna sa "spoonerism"-om, što je Silija zaboravila da pomene...

--> A spoonerism (as if you didn't know) is a pair of words that can have their initial sounds switched to form new words. The pairs need only sound the same, not necessarily be spelled the same (power saw & sour paw, horse cart & coarse heart). There may sometimes be one or two connecting words (kick the stone & stick the cone, king of the rats & ring of the cats).

Dakle, Shining Wit je Whining shit, dakle "plačipička".

Po meni, ovome nema mesta u idiomima, možda zamena slova može proći u nekoj drugoj temi...

bee in a bonet
// ovo ide sa dva "n" i znači "imati brigu"

Za beer and skittles se može dodati i "banja" (u smislu, sav ugođaj).
For Sam, college was beer and skittles. He wasted a lot of time and money.
Za Sema, koledž je bio banja. Spiskao je dosta i vremena i novca.
http://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/beer+and+skittles

Citat:bee's knees - krpa i zakrpa
Ovaj izraz je najpre vrlo mator (mislim da se retko koristi) i ovo je samo jedno ređe i vrlo neformalno značenje; može se naći u Farlexovom rečniku, ovde:
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/bee%27s+knees

Ja sam dao predlog prevoda, nisam siguran da li se može tako prevesti, ali zvuči OK smešak

Inače, češće (default) značenje je - "vrh vrhova", "izvanredno dobar" i tako ti vrhunski epiteti.

Izvori:
http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/the-bees-knees.html
http://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/bee%27s+knees

Još jedno objašnjenje:
Citat:When bees flit from flower to flower the nectar sticks to their legs. The phrase "bee's knees" means sweet and good, because the knees of the bee are where all the sweet, good stuff is collected.
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Bee%27s+Knees

Takođe, može i da znači izvanredan kvalitet i sl.
