OVDE a delic toga
This visit proved to be nothing less than a homecoming of sorts for me. Immediately, I was among friends who made me feel welcome.
However, compared to the first three to four months after the tsunami, both the civilian and military airports of Sultan Iskandar Muda in Aceh appeared deserted since all foreign armed forces had left. Except for a lone UN helicopter, the tranquil ambience was unfamiliar.
There was now a kind of “lonely outpost” atmosphere around these once bustling airports, where helicopters or two-winged airplanes took off or landed on the tarmac every couple of minutes. Perhaps, that post-tsunami airport commotion would not be witnessed again for a very long time.
