Isolated afternoon thunderstorms could develop in the Southeast Thursday, while temperatures were expected in the 100s across the Desert Southwest and parts of California.

Temperatures in the Great Lakes region, mid-Atlantic and Southeast were expected in the 80s and 90s. Partly cloudy conditions were predicted as high pressure settles over parts of the Mississippi Valley and southern Plains.
Dry weather was forecast for much of the Northeast, where highs will reach the 70s and 80s.
