Kompanija Intel objavila je danas dostupnost Thunderbolt tehnologije, nove tehnologije brze PC konekcije koja obuhvata brzi transfer podataka i HD video rezoluciju u jednom kablu. Koristeći brzinu od 10Gbps, Thunderbolt tehnologija može da preuzme ceo HD film za manje od 30 sekundi. Ova Intelova tehnologija dolazi na tržište kroz tehničku saradnju sa kompanijom Apple, i najpre će biti dostupna na novoj liniji MacBook Pro laptop računara kompanije Apple.

Od Thunderbolt tehnologije (kodnog naziva „Light Peak“) očekuje se da brže prebacuje medija sadržaje, pojednostavi konekcije između uređaja i da podstakne nove i uzbudljive načine formiranja i korišćenja računara. Kombinovanje brzog prenosa podataka i HD video konekcije na jednom kablu, osnovni je preduslov za postizanje ove vizije.

Intel Already Working on Thunderbolt Successor, Promises Transfer Speeds of 50Gb/s

Intel has recently revealed that the company is developing a successor for the Thunderbolt, DisplayPort and USB 3.0 technologies that will rely on silicon photonics and will use a new transfer protocol. The new interconnect technology should be ready sometime in 2015.

Intel said that its upcoming external interface, which is now known as post-Thunderbolt (PTB), will be able to reach transfer data rates of up to 50Gb/s over distances of 100 meters.
