Autoportret Van Dajka, poslednji koji je uradio, prodat je za preko 8 300 000 funti na aukciji starih majstora u "Sotebiju". Slika je dostigla gotovo četiri puta veću cenu od predviđene. Na aukciji u "Kristiju" Rembrantov portret nepoznatog muškarca dostigao je cenu od 20 200 000 funti. Na istoj aukciji Rafaelov crtež sa predstavom glave muze prodat je za 26 000 000 funti, što je nov rekord u visini iznosa datog za crtež nekog od starih majstora. Među delima starih majstora rekordnu cenu dostigla je Rubensova slika "Pokolj nevinih" 2002. godine, ona je tada prodata za 49 500 000 funti. Uprkos ekonomskoj krizi, dela poznatih starih majstora su veoma tražena, usled male ponude. Sa druge strane, tržište moderne umetnosti je trenutno u krizi.
