First off it is me! Im sick and tired of people spreading crap around that
someone is sshing into my box, sending emails as me and posing as me on irc
channels. You can contact srlinuxx@gmail.com from the well repected news site
tuxmachines.org if you want to verify my identify.
Listen up man. I had to back away from development of the pclinuxos
distribution 9 months ago because I was diagnosed with cancer. This was very
personal for me and quiet shocking considering I'm only 48 years old. I sure
didn't want to scare the community with this as you can understand. Hell it
took me forever just to tell family members. My main concern was to try to
stay alive and not PCLinuxOS.
Enki-Consulting our hosting provider contacted me because they needed to move
our site off of their failing rack and into a virtual host. I was too sick
to do it. I asked CSolis if she could help as I knew Sal would not know what
to do. She stepped up, contacted Enki, got the new server, backed up the
databases and software and got it moved. It took her a while and she
struggled but she got it done. If it not for her we wouldn't have a website.
People offered their help but when it came time to do the move they were busy
with other things. Because of me being so ill I also asked CSolis to act as
my representative to keep me informed so I could try to keep up with the
goings on. It was easier for me to just deal with one person than many.
Gman picked where I left off and did his best to move development along. In
the event of my demise I started turning access to the servers and website to
CSolis who shared everything with Sal. I stayed out of the development
process and let the guys/gals run the show. Everything was going smooth until
about two weeks before release when things started to get funky.
A few people on the team seem to be making decisions with out any community
participation or listening to the opinion of other team members. They weren't
communication properly with the community to the point forum members were
begging for information. That is not what I envisioned for PCLinuxOS.
Some heated emails were exchanged and servers got locked until things could be
discussed and reviewed. Some people decided to leave based on conjucture,
rumors and only one side of the story. I asked for proof of many things and
only got one email back where some terse words were exchanged. Just note
nobody was forced out. They left on their on freewill.
I guess they thought they would kill PCLOS if they left? Better for their new
project I suppose. Maybe they were surprised when I came back to try to save
my baby. I dont know. Now it seems there is a public campaign going on in an
assassination attempt on the distro. I was shocked to see private messages
from unity people telling people not to help PCLOS.If you want to leave GO
but don't drag us down with you. The main thing about all of this is it
points out flaws in how things were done, what needs to be done so we can
correct them, and in the process improve that which binds us all together,
PCLinuxOS.
