Intel has confirmed that it will no longer be making its single-core architecture Pentium “Tejas” desktop chips.
Following its move to migrate Itanium processors to dual core by 2005, the company will be making all of its processors dual core by the same year.
According to the company, this move is a natural progression with its Hyper-Threading technology.
The new chips are not expected to cause OEMs to change their design plans.
The company has recently made significant changes in its processor lines, including a reworking of its processor numbering scheme.
